Introduction

Articulate Quizmaker is a software application that can be used for creating tests and questionnaires. It is primarily designed for creating on-line tests and questionnaires, although output can also be to paper or a number of other output streams.

Question Types

Quizmaker (2.0) claims to provide 21 different question types, although these are split between graded questions (where there are correct responses and the user is marked according to how many correct responses they provide) and survey questions (where there is no 'right' answer), and there is a large overlap between the two. The possible question types are:

- Word Bank - A variation on Multiple Choice where the correct choice is dragged from a list of available answers and dropped into a box

- Fill In The Blank
- Numeric - A variation on Fill In The Blank where only numeric values are allowed
- Matching Drag and Drop
- Matching Drop-Down - A variation on Matching Drag and Drop where the matching choice is selected from a drop-down list
- Sequence Drag and Drop
- Sequence Drop-Down - A variation on Sequence Drag and Drop where the user selects the appropriate value for each position via drop-down list boxes

Output

Quizmaker is primarily designed to create on-line tests or questionnaires, and supports output to Web, an LMS (Quizmaker is SCORM compliant), or Articulate Online. It also integrates seamlessly into Microsoft PowerPoint presentations rendered in Flash via Articulate Presenter. Quizmaker also allows tests to be output to Microsoft Word, either including or excluding the answers.

Limitations

Although images can be included in every question, it is only possible to include a single image per question. Therefore, it is not possible to have questions where the user is required to choose one image from a selection.

With Word Bank and Fill In The Blank questions, it is only possible to have one blank per question, and this is presented after the question text. Therefore, it is not possible to have questions where users are required to complete a phrase or sentence.
