Option buttons

Refers to an option within a group of options, where it is possible to select only one single option within the group, and the selection of an option automatically deselects any previous selection within the same group. Check box
Example

Use "choose" when referring to actions for option buttons (the user chooses one option from the group). Always refer to the group within which the option button exists. Options should be shown in bold, and option groups should be shown in italics.

Never refer to option buttons as "radio buttons".

Examples:

Incorrect Correct
Select costing-based. Under Type of Profit. Analysis, choose costing-based.
Under Type of Profit. Analysis click costing-based.

Note:
The convention of placing the option in bold initially seems inconsistent with that for check box options (which are placed in italics). The reasoning here is that with option buttons, the option group is effectively the field (and therefore appears in italics), and the individual option is effectively a button (and therefore appears in bold).
