Question types: Sequencing
From TechWriter Wiki
Sequencing is a common type of test item, where the user is required to place a number of items into the 'correct' order. This order may be temporal, prefrence, logical, or other order, and must be clearly specified in the question. As with Multiple Choice questions, this type of question works best with a reasonable number of possible answers, say at least five pairs to be matched.
Example 1: Sequence Drag and Drop
With Drag and Drop type questions, a list of items is displayed and the user must click on an item and drag it to its correct sequence in the list.
Example 2: Sequence Drop-Down
With Drop-Down type questions, the user is presented with as many drop-down fields as there are items to sequence, and must select the correct item in each position.
The items to be sequenced should be placed in a random order (regardless of which of the two methods above are used). Typically, the test creation software can be programmed to choose a random order itself, which will change each time the test item is displayed. Alternatively, the test author can specify the sequence when they create the test (at which time it is fixed), although this is not recommended as users are more likely to remember the position and not the answer, on successive executions of the test item (for example, for retesting).
