Questionmark Perception
From TechWriter Wiki
Questionmark Perception is an 'assessment management system' that allows the creation and delivery of various types of test - typically for use as part of an e-learning system.
Questionmark Perception claims to support 22 different types of question, although many of these are variations on the same thing (such as "Yes/No" and "True/False"). The most interesting of these are:
- Multiple choice (including multiple selections);
- Text match (including numerical data);
- Yes/No (including True/False);
- Free-form text entry, with checking against key words or phrases;
- Drag/drop (see Sequencing and Matching);
- Spoken word;
- Likert scale;
- Simulation, via an interface to Adobe Captivate.
Questions are created either within Authoring Manager, a locally-installed package, or via a browser-based application, although the browser-based application only allows the creation of eight of the 22 question types supported by Authoring Manager.
Questions are created independently of assessments (see below), and stored in a 'question bank'. Full workflow is available for the review and approval of questions.
Questions are subsequently included into assessments. Assessments can be:
- Survey - There are no right or wrong answers, and no feedback is given;
- Test - Feedback may be given, and access may be secured to ensure that only the correct people can take the test;
- Quiz - Anyone can take the quiz; feedback is given (normally used for self-assessments);
- Exam - No feedback is given; access is secured.
Assessments are most often delivered via the Web browser, but Questionmark Perception also supports off-line tests, including a print/scan option where users mark their answers on a printed answer sheet that is then scanned in and automatically analyzed/marked. Naturally, the print/scan option only supports certain question types.
Questionmark Perception can be integrated with an LMS, and is SCORM and AICC compliant.
