SAP

SAP is the name of the company that produces a number of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications. The most widely-used of these is SAP R/3, which is often referred to simply as "SAP" itself.

SAP is an abbreviation of Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (or at least of the German equivalent), and the company is actually SAP AG.

SAP provides the following products:

  • SAP R/3 (previously R/2) - a transactional system
  • SAP APO - a planning system
  • SAP BW - a reporting system
  • SAP CRM - A Customer Relations Management system
