SAP Tutor
From TechWriter Wiki
SAP Tutor (previously called iTutor) is SAP's product-line offering for developing on-line training objects. SAP Tutor works by capturing (recording) the execution of SAP transactions, and then allowing these to be played back by a user. What makes SAP Tutor interesting is that when these recordings are re-played, an avatar (by default a Wizard) similar to Microsoft's help characters actually speaks the help information. This is based on the text entered - and not a recorded voice - using a speech synthesis algorithm which unfortunately sounds like Steven Hawking.
SAP Tutor generates proprietary-format .sim files.
The product consists of four components:
- Recorder: Record step-by-step navigation
- Editor: Add details (assessment, error messages, etc,)
- Player: User interface
- Reporter: Used to assess how well the user is doing
Key points:
- Is SCORM compliant;
- Is not bundled with SAP LS;
- Can perform conditional branching;
- Can output to Microsoft Word.
User has three options:
- Demo mode (the presentation runs itself - 'hands-off');
- Interactive mode (hands-on practice);
- Test mode;
Can enter a simulation at any point
