Introduction

STT is a suite of (two) components that provide PC-based training for the enterprise. STT is produced by Kaplan IT.

STT consists of two components:

• STT Trainer - is SCORM compliant
• STT Manager - this is the LMS. It is not SCORM compliant

STT Trainer

STT Trainer works by recording actions performed in any Windows-based, Web-based, or Java-based software application, and providing these as a simulation. The recording can also be used to generated documentation. In these respects, STT Trainer is similar to Global Knowledge's OnDemand application. STT Trainer consists of four components:

Capture

Used to record the actions in the source system.

Designer 

Used to edit the recording.

Configure

Presenter

Used to present the recording to the trainee. Presenter allows playback in one of three modes: Demo mode, Training mode, Assessment mode, and Live Help mode (comparable to OnDemand's See It, Try It, Know It, and Do It modes).

STT Trainer provides a central repository for all content, and a central authoring environment, but allows multiple users in multiple locations to access these at the same time. The central repository can hold STT recordings, as well as content developed in other applications (such as PowerPoint slides).

Delivery of content is via the Web browser. The presenter runs on Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, and does not require any additional plug-ins.

STT Manager

STT Manager is a Learning Management System that integrates closely with STT Trainer, to provide a single access point to content for trainees, and reporting and statistics for trainers. Although it is designed as a paired solution with STT Trainer, it can be used for managing non-STT Trainer developed courses.

STT Manager lets trainers defined and schedule course conducts, and report on both attendance and assessment scores. Trainees can use STT Manager to identify courses they are either scheduled for or have completed, and access all of the developed course material in the central repository.
